VFW Post #7043 was founded on April 29th, 1946, in Coalport, PA.

We are committed to making a difference in our community through our involvement with many local programs. Just some of the organizations which we are invovled with include Tomorrows Hope, Wounded Warrior Project, Glendale High School projects, the Glendale Sportsmen's Club kids fishing derby, Glendale Fire Deptartment, the local Girl Scout troop, Glendale Band, Veterans and local families in need, Local sports teams & events.

We have currently over 300 active members. We offer a death benefit to families of our fallen comrades and we remember our widows during the Christmas season.

The VFW was founded in 1899 following the Spanish-American War to secure rights and benefits for those who had served. Throughout the years, the VFW has led the way in veterans affairs. Today, the VFW continues to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts and ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of their country.

VFW Post #7043 has committed itself to helping our community. Below are just some of the ways in which we --and VFW Posts across the nation-- serve this function.

Youth Activities

Fully aware that the nation’s future rests with its youth, the VFW actively promotes and sponsors a wide range of youth groups. These are just a few of the many programs supported by the VFW.

Boy Scouts of America units are sponsored by VFW posts and account for more than 36,000 scout memberships.

Sons of the VFW is designed to develop the parent-son relationship as well as provide opportunities to participate in activities benefiting the entire family.

The VFW sponsors a wide range of youth sports programs, from baseball to hockey and everything in between.

Junior rifle clubs, in cooperation with the NRA, promote competitive matches for teams and individuals. Safety is always a top priority.

Reserve Officer Training Corps allows high school and college students to earn VFW medals and citations presented annually to outstanding cadets.

Special Olympics and Junior Olympics programs are endorsed and supported by the VFW.

Child identification is provided by VFW Posts and Lady Auxiliaries. Booklets on how to conduct a child fingerprinting program are available.

Community Activities

Our members give their time, effort, and money to raise the consciousness of communities on such important issues as the environment, safety, school, youth, and community improvement programs, working with organizations such as the March of Dimes and Keep America Beautiful.

Working side-by-side with the Auxiliary, VFW members promote community projects to assist others and improve their towns and cities. In doing so, the VFW plays a constructive role and enhances its visibility.

National Veterans Service

The VFW Maintains a nationwide service network that provides assistance to veterans and their families seeking, or determining eligibility for, state and federal veterans benefits.

This network handles claims covering the full range of entitlements, including pension eligibility, disability compensation, education benefits, military records correction, discharge upgrades, and every other entitlement available to veterans and their families.

There is no fee of any kind for this representation and the VFW stands ready to assist all veterans and their families.

National Legislative Service

Veterans’ entitlements and programs are the direct result of years of VFW legislative effort. Each year new challenges arise, and the VFW is there to meet them.

Your VFW legislative team continually spearheads the drive to have veterans entitlements not only maintained but also expanded. Our victories are the result of working with VFW members. They provide the legislative team the strength it needs to win on Capitol Hill.

Buddy Poppy

VFW Buddy Poppy sales raise over $15 million every year to support veterans service programs and the VFW National Home. The Buddy Poppies are assembled by disabled veterans in VA hospitals and sold by VFW and Auxiliary members around the world.

Americanism

Americanism programs provide support for our democratic institutions. Loyalty Day is one of the highlights. It is a national day for reaffirming allegiance to America and its ideals. Through parades, speeches, and other events, we have made Loyalty Day an opportunity for all Americans to say, “I’m proud to be an American.

National Employment and Civil Service

VFW maintains a national network of volunteer employment officers who identify pertinent problems at the local level.

VFW’s Washington Office director of employment is responsible for the organization’s veteran jobs and training program. He represents the membership before committees and public/private sector agencies, monitors jobs programs and recommends appropriate actions. Assistance is also provided in filing claims. An annual national employment awards program is conducted by the VFW to recognize individuals, groups, and employers who excel in providing employment services to veterans.

Voice of Democracy

Each Department winner receives an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., where the see their government in action and visit national historic sites and monuments. Voice of Democracy winners share in over $2 million in scholarships and awards from all levels of the VFW.

National Security and Foreign Affairs

VFW is committed to working for a strong national defense and firm foreign policy. America is more secure today because organizations like the VFW have traditionally taken an unwavering stance on issues of preparedness.

Safety
